my weekend project September 7, 2008

Posted by brandon in : fun, projects , 3comments

seeing as how ive been in my house over 6 months, and barely have any furniture…. i decided to make the place feel a bit more…. AWESOME! lol….

it not only makes the living room look a LOT better, but double as part of our backdrop for our upcoming internet tv show, THEAWESOME!

it’s almost all done, i just need to now go and fix all the white lines, but here are the pics from the beginning saturday night, to the current mid day sunday. [i've never painted before, so it took me awhile to come up with the design, colors, buy it, figure out HOW to paint, etc haha]. and without Jessica’s help, it probably would have never gotten done.

so the last couple days i couldn’t refrain myself from posting a couple random bulletins about something being THEAWESOME and other stuff that made no sense to anyone. and i actually got a ton of messages back asking WTF i was talking about lol. Well here is a little bit of a better explanation:

For those of you who have ever watched a show from revision3.com [such as diggnation], this will already be pretty understandable to you.

The other day i was talking to a friend of mine about how much time i spend daily finding funny stuff on the internet;pictures and videos etc…. and how i immediately email them to everyone at work, friends and other people…. and that grew into the idea of why not start a video podcast, probably weekly and share some cool/funny internet stuff.

Still with me?

That idea grew into a mashup of ideas. I really like the way diggnation [revision3.com show] is presented, i like the fact that alcohol is involved. I also like certain segments of Attack of the Show [g4tv], specifically the “Around The Net” where they spend about 5 minutes daily showing off funny YouTube Videos. I also miss the good skits they used to randomly do back in the day. So i figured why not combine the best of all these ideas, without the stuff i dont like? And here is the working product so far:

A show about some of the funniest stuff on the internet that week, that involves consuming alcohol. Filmed in the style of diggnation where it is always always done in one long take. If things go wrong, people say the wrong stuff, it all stays in the recording. That makes for great impromptu humor, especially when alcohol is involved. We can create a few different regular ’segments’, and add in the occasional skit or whatever else happens. Super low budget, not overproduced, and just kinda ‘whatever happens, happens’ style.

There is still a lot that has to be figured out before this can happen, [boring stuff like audio/video, server bandwith, etc] but for right now things are actually going good. A lot of planning has already gone into constructing a set, and things are just falling into place really well. Hint: The set is going to be awesome! It will be themed as a bar! Stocked with alcohol LOL! In fact, i’m picking up part of the set in the next couple days, if all goes well.

The show will be called THEAWESOME! and if all goes well, i have some good ideas for other shows….

For now though, constructing the set is top priority, and it takes time and money….

But most importantly! I need feedback. Comments, suggestions, criticisms, all of it… And to find someone who wants to host it with me….

okay everyone take a reaaaaally close look at the assembly time:

starting the timer at 0 with the sealed box:

pretty much 16 minutes or so just to get everything out and finish step 1:

finally finished…. im happy with it at least:

aaaaaand the ending time is?:

so to summarize. don’t ever believe the instruction assembly time. even with two people there was just no way. the instructions were also terribly vague at some points, while exceptionally detailed at other points….. hmmmmm
off to the store to pick up some steaks to grill up, im starving
